The most negligent, “used care salesman” service I have ever experienced. I had my mini Cooper towed to them with a crank no start and explained—before they touched the car—that I had previously resolved the same issue last January with an engine carbon flush and new spark plugs. My priority was to get the engine to turn over with basic diagnostics.
Without testing my high pressure fuel pump, I was told that I may need a new one. In the same breath, they admitted that swapping of coils and plugs got the engine to turn over (as I expected). Suspicious that they would suggest such an expensive part as the culprit (>$1000 w/o labor), without thoroughly testing it first, I declined further work and picked up the car as-is.
The work receipt shows that spark plugs were replaced and the car battery was charged (it arrived with a dead battery after multiple start attempts). I went to retrieve the car from the lot and noticed it was unlocked.
Ten miles down the road and the car completely died on me in traffic. This has never happened before. I popped the hood to find my engine cover very poorly affixed and ignition coil wiring unsecured (sloppy work). I go to make sure battery connections are secure and realized they sent me off with a battery that was not mine. A kind samaritan pulled off to give me a jump and it started just fine. Greenfield auto tells me to come back to reinstall the original battery, and identified and ‘fixed’ a loose alternator connection. (I had the alternator replaced about 6 months ago, so this should not be the underlying issue).
I make it home, find the receipt for the original battery purchased from NAPA in 2024, and see that the second battery does not match the receipt and is 4 years old. Dumbfounded, I bring them the receipt clearly documenting the battery was purchased for my 2011 Mini Cooper s 1.6. I was met with gaslighting and defensiveness, “why would I want to steal your battery” ? He went so far as to accuse my previous mechanic of the swap. I had jumped someone else’s car recently, and know that a swap before this time was not the case. He offered to “show” me the batteries they had in the garage, which was just a pile all in a mixed heap on the ground—some clearly corroded, and mostly interstate branded like the first one he sent me off with. No organization, no accountability.
Best case: my battery was removed and carelessly swapped into another vehicle. Worst case, it was intentionally replaced with an older battery and sent off assuming I wouldn’t notice.
Needless to say, this 4-year-old battery is not holding up and I’m out $250 for a battery that was never the problem.
Completely unprofessional, unsafe, and dishonest. Avoid these people.
