We have been buying our cars and having them fixed at Greenfield Auto Specialists since 2011 and it's always a great experience. We tend to like our cars a bit on the older side and Jonathan and Bill and crew are great at keeping them in tip top shape. Buying a car from John is easy and no-pressure. Their used cars are great and the service is top notch. Thanks for being so skilled, knowledgeable, and trustworthy!

The most negligent, “used care salesman” service I have ever experienced. I had my mini Cooper towed to them with a crank no start and explained—before they touched the car—that I had previously resolved the same issue last January with an engine carbon flush and new spark plugs. My priority was to get the engine to turn over with basic diagnostics. Without testing my high pressure fuel pump, I was told that I may need a new one. In the same breath, they admitted that swapping of coils and plugs got the engine to turn over (as I expected). Suspicious that they would suggest such an expensive part as the culprit (>$1000 w/o labor), without thoroughly testing it first, I declined further work and picked up the car as-is. The work receipt shows that spark plugs were replaced and the car battery was charged (it arrived with a dead battery after multiple start attempts). I went to retrieve the car from the lot and noticed it was unlocked. Ten miles down the road and the car completely died on me in traffic. This has never happened before. I popped the hood to find my engine cover very poorly affixed and ignition coil wiring unsecured (sloppy work). I go to make sure battery connections are secure and realized they sent me off with a battery that was not mine. A kind samaritan pulled off to give me a jump and it started just fine. Greenfield auto tells me to come back to reinstall the original battery, and identified and ‘fixed’ a loose alternator connection. (I had the alternator replaced about 6 months ago, so this should not be the underlying issue). I make it home, find the receipt for the original battery purchased from NAPA in 2024, and see that the second battery does not match the receipt and is 4 years old. Dumbfounded, I bring them the receipt clearly documenting the battery was purchased for my 2011 Mini Cooper s 1.6. I was met with gaslighting and defensiveness, “why would I want to steal your battery” ? He went so far as to accuse my previous mechanic of the swap. I had jumped someone else’s car recently, and know that a swap before this time was not the case. He offered to “show” me the batteries they had in the garage, which was just a pile all in a mixed heap on the ground—some clearly corroded, and mostly interstate branded like the first one he sent me off with. No organization, no accountability. Best case: my battery was removed and carelessly swapped into another vehicle. Worst case, it was intentionally replaced with an older battery and sent off assuming I wouldn’t notice. Needless to say, this 4-year-old battery is not holding up and I’m out $250 for a battery that was never the problem. Completely unprofessional, unsafe, and dishonest. Avoid these people.

Relatively new in town, I tried the first mechanic I came across and got a quote that felt a bit high, especially since I mentioned I only planned to keep my car another year. A few people recommended Greenfield Auto Specialists for a second opinion, and I’m glad they did. They handled the work at a more reasonable price, took care of a couple of extra issues, and even ran the car over for inspection (above and beyond). I’ve definitely found my go-to shop.

TLDR: They used the wrong oil even after we asked to verify they had the correct one. – After our vehicle ran out of its extended warranty, we were looking for a new independent shop to maintain our VW Touareg tdi and booked an appointment for an oil change. At drop off, I asked a specific question to verify that they were using the required VW 507 spec oil because we have a dpf system. The gentleman at the counter said “yes of course, we know what we're doing”. He seemed annoyed by the question but that wasn't a big deal. But when I inspected the invoice, they used the wrong oil. VW 505 was used which is designed for older tdis without a dpf system and not recommended for a newer tdi. It won't ruin the system after only one oil change but it's not correct and we won't be returning. Too bad.

My first ever car-buying experience was great at Greenfield Auto Specialists for my 2015 Prius V! John (in sales) was very responsive and helpful. He listened to all of my concerns, and unlike other used car salespeople, was honest and upfront with me about the risks and unknowns of buying a 10-year-old car. We even had a conversation about the widespread issue in the automotive industry of women not being taken seriously in the car buying process, so he has an awareness and sensitivity to that made me feel more comfortable. The whole process was quick and they had me go to the RMV myself for the registration (took less than 30 minutes) so I didn't have to pay a ridiculous doc fee like most other car dealers. John made sure I had everything I needed so it was absolutely seamless which was a pleasant surprise. I had an issue with the parking break that was necessary to pass state inspection, and John (in repairs) took care of it for me under my warranty and even let me borrow a shop car so I could get to work on time! Everyone there is super nice and helpful :) Thanks so much to the Johns for a seamless, no BS first car buying experience!
