Goodyear Tires are among the most recognizable and respected brands in the United States. Begun in 1898 by Frank Seiberling and named after Charles Goodyear, the inventor of vulcanized rubber, this company has clearly withstood the test of time. In fact, it is among the top manufacturers of tires around the world with over $15 billion in annual revenue. Of course, Goodyear is most widely known for constructing high-quality tires that are used as original equipment for numerous brands, including Dodge, Acura, Chevrolet, Ford and Lexus. However, the company also produces tires for commercial trucks, motorcycles, airplanes and a wide range of farm equipment. In addition, it is the only tire supplier for NASCAR and has a rich history in Formula One racing for which it earned more wins than any other tire supplier until moving on after the 1998 season. Goodyear is also widely known for its sponsorship of multiple sports, most notably football. It currently has a multiyear agreement for sponsoring the Cotton Bowl. The company has also provided coverage of numerous Rose Bowls and other games via the Goodyear Blimp. The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company owns numerous other brands that are sold all over the world. The most commonly known subsidiary brands sold in the United States include Dunlop and Kelly. The headquarters for Goodyear are currently located in Akron, Ohio, where a new headquarters building was constructed in 2013. Major manufacturing sites for Goodyear Tires include Lawton, Oklahoma; Danville, Virginia; Gadsden, Alabama; and Freeport, Illinois.
